Stockli, Stormrider, TT, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Stormrider, TT, 2008 Skis

The all-new Stormrider TT is an expert to pro model for all mountain, back-country free-riding and stylin'. Pretty much a race construction gives you heaps of power, grip, pop and control plus the twin-tip and tuned flex allow you to ride the pipe as well as the backcountry. Aimed at the competent advanced to expert skier.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Stormrider, TT, 2008 Skis:

Twin-tip powder ski.

Medium to expert.

166 cm to 188 cm.

Stockli, Stormrider, Pit Pro 2008 Skis

Stockli, Stormrider, Pit Pro 2008 Skis

The most advanced mountaineering/touring ski in the Stockli range. For experts who want to challenge the steepest and deepest but probably need to hike to get there.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Stormrider, Pit Pro 2008 Skis:

Advanced, lightweight mountaineering skis with outstanding downhill performance.

154 cm - 184 cm.

Stockli, Stormrider, Light, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Stormrider, Light, 2008 Skis

Ski touring is increasing massively in terms of its popularity. Touring is no longer the preserve of smelly mountain goats or skiers who don't have the technique to arc a turn on groomed, icy pistes- thankfully those folk take their abyssal technique elsewhere, far away into the back-country. No, surprisingly the new breed of tourers are washed, can sometimes carve a turn and are looking for skis to ski on... not just tooth-picks to cruise around with a dead seal strapped to the base. This fresh generation of ski tourers know their Blackberry's from a bar of soap!

Yes, the Stockli Stormrider Light is a great ski for the latter, the new generation- not the ones that resemble something the local farmer shot, and some rather large City gent ate last night with a hefty gulp of Genepi. You know who I mean! Gaiters!? Don't they live in Florida not at the bottom of some poor skiers legs!

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Stormrider, Light, 2008 Skis:

Lightweight mountaineering ski.

155 cm- 175 cm.

Stockli, Rotor, 76, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Rotor, 76, 2008 Skis

The bigger of the two Rotor skis- I think the idea of the use of the name Rotor was in its sense as a palindrome but the Rotor skis are no longer fully-twin-tipped. They do turn-up at the tails though and this helps to release the tail of the ski earlier in the turn- something which benefits the intermediate skier or advanced skier if they are in difficulties I guess. So a versatile all-terrain ski (there are so many of them this year!) and suited to the good intermediate to advanced or even expert skier (now there's a surprise).
Does what it says but if you have the chance to try a pure piste performance ski then a proper back-country ski you'll be much happier!

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Rotor, 76, 2008 Skis:

Multi-condition ski for groomed slopes, powder and all other conditions in-between.

Stockli, Snake, Coral 2008 Skis

Stockli, Snake, Coral 2008 Skis

The coolest looking ski in the new Stockli range the Coral is also the top model in the Snake range. A backcountry freestyle ski with 88 mm underfoot, still relatively narrow by modern standards but the Coral is aimed at skiers who ski the whole mountain and not just the park- plus the boys at Stockli, being Swiss, expect that you have the technique to handle a real pair of skis and not some mega-fat beginners surf boards.

For the advanced to expert freestyler- rider.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Snake, Coral 2008 Skis:

Twin-tip freestyle ski for park and powder.

Level- medium to expert

166 cm- 188 cm.

Stockli, Snake, Pop Base 2008 Skis

Stockli, Snake, Pop Base 2008 Skis

Twin-tip freestyle ski for park and pipe.

Base view.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Snake, Pop Base 2008 Skis:

Stockli, Snake, Pop, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Snake, Pop, 2008 Skis

Fresh looks for the Snake for 2007-8. The base is a very funky looking corn-on-the-cob effect whilst the top-sheet is just cool. Wood-cored, hand-layered and a full-on freestyle to free-ride ski for the advanced to expert skier.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Snake, Pop, 2008 Skis:

Twin-tip freestyle ski for park and slope.

Advanced- expert.

160 cm- 180 cm.

Stockli Laser Cross Pro 2008 Skis

Stockli Laser Cross Pro 2008 Skis

Definitely into the expert range of skis here with the Laser Cross Pro. Race-construction, aggressive-side-cut and a firm, powerful flex, the Cross Pro is aimed at the technically proficient and speedy skier.
Fitted with a Driver binding from Salomon that gives the more aggressive free-skier more control, a higher platform for increased leverage- the Cross Pro is an excellent package for the expert who wants a one ski does it all package with a good amount of sportiness thrown in.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli Laser Cross Pro 2008 Skis:

Race orientated cross-ski for long turns on any slope conditions.

Advanced- expert

161 cm- 185 cm.

Stockli, Laser, Cross, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Laser, Cross, 2008 Skis

Piste to off-piste performance with Laser Cross. A race-style construction mated to a slightly wider bodied shape gives the advanced to expert skier a versatile and practical all-terrain ski with a bit of bite into the hardpack and a touch of floatation in the fluff.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Laser, Cross, 2008 Skis:

Performance orientated all-mountain cruiser.

Level- Medium to expert.

153 cm- 174 cm.

Stockli, Rotor, 70 Edition 2008 Skis

Stockli, Rotor, 70 Edition 2008 Skis

The Rotor's are quite a popular ski from what I can see when skiing in Switzerland- there was certainly plenty of them around Zermatt last autumn. Popular with intermediate, advanced skiers plus some instructors the Rotor 70 is designed as a relatively cruisey all-mountain ski for the intermediate to advanced skier. With 70 mm underfoot you feel balanced if the snow is fresh and a touch deep but there remains a good level of piste performance- grip, sidecut and reasonable agility edge to edge.
A good all-mountain ski for the intermediate to advanced skier.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Rotor, 70 Edition 2008 Skis:

Multi-condition ski for groomed slopes, powder and all other conditions in-between.

Beginner to advanced

159 cm - 179 cm.

Stockli, Snake, Tomato, 2008, Freestyle, Advanced, Expert, Skis

Stockli, Snake, Tomato, 2008, Freestyle, Advanced, Expert, Skis

Cool and funky "Tomato" Snake's! A twin-tipped ski for the park and for the slopes the wood-core and reasonable sidecut let you enjoy some actual skiing sensations as well as been quite useful in the pipe and park. Swiss-built quality and suitable for the beginner to advanced freestyler. The Snake's are versatile skis that'll let you cruise some powder, hit the moguls and chill on the pistes- a good all-mountain ski with a twin-tip for the intermediate to advanced skier looking for something a touch different.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Snake, Tomato, 2008, Freestyle, Advanced, Expert, Skis:

Twin-tip freestyle ski for park and slope.

Level- Junior to advanced freestyler.

155 cm- 175 cm.

Stockli, Snake, Tomato base, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Snake, Tomato base, 2008 Skis

The funky base of the rather more demurely top-sheeted Snake Tomato. A twin-tipped ski for the park and for the slopes the wood-core and reasonable side-cut let you enjoy some actual skiing sensations as well as been quite useful in the pipe and park. Swiss-built quality and suitable for the beginner to advanced free-styler.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Snake, Tomato base, 2008 Skis:

Funky Tomato base for the Snake Tomato.

Stockli, Stormrider, XXL, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Stormrider, XXL, 2008 Skis

The Stormrider XXL's are powerful skis for real all-mountain skiing at speed- so why put that bloody binding on them! They should be fitted with a "Driver" style binding from Salomon and not the cheap and cheerful "Z" model- a real shame. Nonetheless the ski is great, I just wouldn't want to be hitting the back-country at speed or taking to many airs with a pair of essentially intermediate to advanced bindings on that aren't designed for fast, aggressive skiing.
A fantastic all-mountain to back-country ski for the expert skier sadly in need of a different binding- see if you can have another option fitted like the STH 16.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Stormrider, XXL, 2008 Skis:

Freeride ski for long turns in powder.

Advanced to expert.

162 cm - 186 cm.

Stockli, Stormrider, XL Edition 2008 Skis

Stockli, Stormrider, XL Edition 2008 Skis

A very versatile all-mountain ski that differs from many of the other manufacturers skis in that they are a relatively narrow 75 mm at the waist. This means that you need to have good technique in the back-country to stay afloat- plus have the speed and control of line to let them run and build up the pressure underneath to give you the float.

The Stormrider XL's and XXL's are great all-mountain skis though. They carve with precision, grip like demented dentists and are very happy to be hammered down the crud at a good rate of knots.

Best for confirmed and aggressive advanced skiers or experts.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Stormrider, XL Edition 2008 Skis:

Freeride ski for long turns on powder and on slopes.

Level- medium to expert.

158 cm- 184 cm

Stockli, Spirit 2008 Skis

Stockli, Spirit 2008 Skis

A stronger more advanced skier will appreciate the Spirit for its lively wood-core, aggressive shaping and quick turn-in. A good all-round piste ski for the sporty intermediate or advanced skier looking to ski mostly on-piste.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Spirit 2008 Skis:

Comfort orientated all-mountain ski.

Level- Beginner to (medium) advanced.

Stockli, Sinox, Pro, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Sinox, Pro, 2008 Skis

The Sinox Pro heads up the intermediate range for piste skiers from Stockli. They claim the Pro's are suitable for beginners to medium level skiers. This is true- although the beginner wouldn't really initially appreciate the benefits of being on and quite carvy and sporty ski, but if you are in good shape and want to start to learn skiing quickly and progress rapidly then a ski like the Sinox Pro will help you. For the intermediate to advanced skier you will also find the Pro quite a sporty ski with good levels of grip, sidecut and enough power to give you some acceleration out of your turns and power you down the reds. A nice, versatile and quality-looking ski.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Sinox, Pro, 2008 Skis:

Performance orientated all-mountain ski.

Level- beginner to medium.

149 cm - 170 cm.

Stockli Stormrider-L 2008 Skis

Stockli Stormrider-L 2008 Skis

A slightly tamer and more accessible ski in the Stockli Stormrider range. With its 76 mm waist the Stormrider is a very competent groomed-run ski and is able to carve with precision and power. In the backcountry they demand a good level technically but are very useable all-terrain skis and you can hit the off-piste in the knowledge that the L's can handle pretty much everything you'd throw at them- they aren't serious Big Mountain skis though, go for the larger XL, XXL or DP Pro if you're feeling strong.
A great hand-finished, precise and versatile ski from Stockli.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli Stormrider-L 2008 Skis:

Freeride all-mountain ski for powder and slopes.

Level- medium to advanced.

162 cm- 178 cm.

Stockli, Sinox, Fun, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Sinox, Fun, 2008 Skis

The Sinox Fun is another Stockli ski designed for the girls. Light and agile they are pretty much identical to the Sinox Edition Light- so a versatile all-mountain ski happiest on-piste but with a wood-core, smooth ride and aggressive but agile sidecut. A nice ski for the beginner to gentle advanced skier looking to cruise around the pistes.

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Sinox, Fun, 2008 Skis:

Comfort orientated all-mountain ski.

Beginner to medium.

149 cm- 170 cm.

Stockli, Sinox, Edition, Light, 2008 Skis

Stockli, Sinox, Edition, Light, 2008 Skis

A super-light-weight ski developed for gentle all-mountain female skiers. Great for cruising blues and reds, endowed with good grip on firm snow plus excellent bite from the almost slalom-esque sidecut. An excellent package for the rapidly progressing intermediate or advanced skier looking for lightness, agility and a fun pair of piste orientated skis.

5/ 5

The manufacturer says this about the Stockli, Sinox, Edition, Light, 2008 Skis:

Comfort orientated all mountain women ski.

All mountain ski for easy skiing.
