British Junior Champion Louise Thomas attains full British Ski Team status.

Louise Thomas Val Thorens 2007

Louise Thomas, British Junior Champion, British Senior Team, Val Thorens, FIS Race, Giant Slalom, Louise Thomas is a nineteen year old skiing sensation from a part of the UK more associated with racing on horseback rather than down the vertiginous spine of an Alp.

Hailing from south of London Louise competed in her first full-time season last year and achieved remarkable results for someone who had not trained or raced on-snow from a young age.

Just prior to the GB National Championships Lou raced in the French Senior Championships where she placed an incredible 13th down the perilous Face de Bellevarde from a start number of 57. This is on the infamous slope that was the scene of the mens downhill during the Albertville Olympics were the US team pulled out because they thought it too risky.

At the GB Junior races Louise proved her class with resounding wins across the board to take home four gold medals then the following week she again proved her mettle with excellent performances in Meribel at the British Senior races. Here she placed third senior overall and was 3rd in GS, 4th in SL and 3rd in SG- not bad for someone who had only managed just over a month on-snow the previous year. Good work and rewarded with full British Team status this summer.

2007/8 promises to be a great season for Louise and one that starts with training this weekend on the Pissailes glacier in Val d'Isere, France and to be followed by camps in Saas Fee and south America with the British team.

Salomon GB are pleased to be partnering Louise on her goals to achieve World Cups and Olympics, along with Leki and Cebe, to see Lou succeed in the beckoning Europa Cups of this coming season. Lets hope all the training and hard work will create success for the British Team and eventually raise Louise's profile over the years to come as one the leading girls in skiing's "White Circus".
