Head Monster 102 SW Skis 2008/09

Head Monster 102 SW Skis 2008/09

Monster's come in all shapes and sizes and the 102's are about the biggest - or certainly one of the toughest. When I skied these I could certainly see their point but you need to be a passionate and powerful skier with a love of the backcountry - and if you're not skiing all the time then the love of a gym as well, you need power and technique to ski these babies.
Very much designed for high-speed powder-back-country rippin', the 102's are constructed with a very beefed-up and heavy construction - they hanker for speed and for you to let them loose and ride them. If you go for the 193's then you kneed to know what you're doing, the 183''s for most men and very strong girls are plenty for the majority of non-competitive freeriders and the 173 is obviously for the fairer sex.

Skireviews rating - 89/100
Above average levels of construction, stability and intent of purpose - also vastly improved graphic over what was quite weak last year - a fine pair of freeride, big-mountain skis.

The manufacturer says this about the Head Monster 102 SW Skis 2008/09:

Who ever said Head Monsters were on the skinny side? This big momma lives for the out of bounds with a wide outline and a high-rise tip. Both powerful and sweet to ride.
